And that’s a WRAP! Sunrise at New England 2025
If you haven’t already read our beginning of NEMHS week news, start here!
Our 2025 New England Regional Morgan Show adventure was more than we could hope for, and we owe a debt of gratitude to everyone who made it so! Our clients who graciously allowed us to present their horses, our Sunrise crew who kept things running smoothly from start to finish, and of course the irreplaceable Austin Hazelwood, Man of Many Talents, who lead, rode, and drove our horses to success all week. Austin and his partner/fiancé Julianna Rafferty at Rose Haven Farm had an outstanding show themselves, and still found time to help us achieve our goals. We appreciate all of you!
We had a feeling that DME SASSY GIRL was going to love the stage, and we were right! Austin piloted this game, talented daughter of the late Queen’s Glory Days to a win in the 4YO Park Harness/UPHA Classic for owners Marie Ciaffa and Kimberly Jarvis, and then they returned to capture the Junior Park Harness Championship. Their efforts did not go unnoticed, as the very astute horsewoman Kim Cramer of Good Morgan LLC chose this beauty to be her next star. Sassy will now be under the direction of trainers/agents Mike Goebig and Dwayne Knowles at Broadmoor.

The very capable Kim Swartz was a vision of loveliness driving KORETTA T. ZANE to the win in the Ladies Park Harness, with incredibly deep competition all around. Sired by the late, great Stand And Deliver GCH, this was “Jane’s” first performance with her owner after winning the same class at the Gold Cup earlier this year with a catch driver. Kim loves a game horse, and this mare has plenty in the tank, but performs with perfect manners and precision.
Another star from Kim Swartz’s High Style Stables made his debut at this historic show, VALORANT (Dragonsmeade Spectre x ESM Enraptured, by Ben’s Rhapsody) brought home a check for over $10,000 as the Two Year Old Park Harness Stake, which is funded by The Morgan Stallion Sweeps. Mr. Hazelwood once again took the lines on this rising young champion, and we are so grateful to him for lending us his time and talent.

Wrapping up our week by winning the Junior Horse Pleasure Driving Championship with SSDF FLIGHT RISK, who was such a star, his brilliance was seen clear over on the west coast! Kurt & Teri Rumens of Fire Run Farm in Snohomish, WA threw their hat in the ring on this wonderful gelding, with plans for him to become Kurt’s harness partner. We couldn’t be more pleased with this plan! Flight Risk send home lots of ribbons and bling to his appreciative former owner Edward Yutzy. And once again, we have our good friend Austin Hazelwood to thank for these back to back wins.
To cap off an already perfect week, we enjoyed meeting Amy Roberts of Denver, NC and her trainer, Matt Lightner of Chestnut Lane, who selected the big, impressive CBMF BLINDING LIGHTS as Amy’s new partner. We’ve loved working this 7YO gelding by King-E Otto B, out of a Centerpiece mare, and were honored to represent former owner Mrs. Fran Pugh, Tara Farm LLC in this sale. We wish the very best to Amy & Matt with “Sarge”!
We’re already looking forward to July 2026!
