From the Superior Sweepstakes, to the Stallion Auction, to the Sale itself, Sunrise performed & produced!
We brought four weanlings to present in the 71 entry Superior Sweepstakes class, three made the top 14 and two in the final 12 callback. We are so thrilled with the quality of foals we presented and super excited for their futures in performance.
ALPHASTAR SHOCK WAVE (Saralin Seabourn x Alphastar Latest Fashion) was well in the money in the field of 71 awesome Morgan weanlings, taking 10th place and a check for $5,440 home for breeders/owners Alphastar Morgans. Right behind her was Kevin Schengrund’s lovely SSLLC MADONNA (SSLLC Extreme Waze x SN Unzipped), who earned $5,168 for her 11th place finish.
And in the top 20 group, the full brother to World Champion VALLEY ACRES ITS MY TIME, VALLEY ACRES DYNASTY (King-E Otto B x BJB’s Lucy With Diamonds) earned a check for over $3,600 for breeder Valley Acres Morgans. We are also excited to congratulate Susan Racey, and new trainer/agent Eric Antman on their purchase of this wonderful colt! Eric is also the trainer of Its My Time, so we are especially pleased he came back for the little brother. We wish them the best!
Fire Run Fahrenheit brings 7th highest bid in the Superior Sweepstakes Stallion Service Auction
Reprising his winning performance from the 2024 New England Regional for an appreciative crowd, this impressive young stallion brought a top bid of $8,500 for his service in this year’s auction. This contributed to the total of $286,150, with four stallions yet to sell that will bump this up even more. That means the Sweepstakes winning foal in the 2026 event will be taking home a check for over $62,000!
And best wishes to the new owners of these exceptional Sunrise consignments!
LXC Fortune Five Hundred (NS Fame & Fortune x JDS Viviano’), a 2020 stallion endowed with his World Champion sire’s spectacular talent, was purchased by Kimber Sharp at Encore Stables, and she will also take over the lines on this special guy. We wish her the very best, we loved working him!
And heading down to Georgia is SSLLC Rockstar (ECP Anchor Man x Meadowsong Cameo), a 2020 gelding who has been a wonderful student here at Sunrise, learning his lessons well as a western and hunter pleasure horse. He found the perfect new owner in Linda Braddon at Galt Valley Farms! Paddy Bates is the receiving trainer on this multi-talented gelding, and we’ll be cheering them on from the rail next year.
We always enjoy our annual trip to Shipshewana for this well run and well attended Morgan sale. A big shout out to the Superior Sale Committee for their hard work and extra effort that makes this sale a highlight of our year!
